Spices (Dried only)
You may use sea salt, salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, onion powder, cinnamon, etc. for seasoning.
You can use more than one spice in any dish. Be creative!
Read labels.
Watch for added sugars and starches.
No mixed vegetables in spices: ie – Mrs. Dash®.
You may use fresh herbs, however....
If you use a fresh onion (since it is one of the Protocol vegetables) – it is counted as your vegetable choice for that meal. You can use powdered or flaked onion as a spice in any dish.
