COFFEE:
Never allowed on this protocol during Phase 2. The oils interfere with the homeotherapeutic-style spray.
So, if you drink coffee during Phase 2, it is not a cheat -- it is a SABOTAGE!
TEA:
Teas are allowed as long as they contain:
1) No mint (mint oil interferes with the spray)
2) No sugar/corn starch
3) No calories
4) Avoid ginseng, as this strong medicinal herb can interfere with the spray.
Always -- ALWAYS check the labels of whatever you drink or eat. We do our best, but mistakes can happen.
Any beverage with calories or sugar is forbidden during Phase 2.
Beverages with calories are allowed in Phase 3A, but still no sugar until Phase 3B.
WHAT ABOUT...?
- Wuyi Tea - OK. Still check the labels. They might add a new one since we posted this.
- Yerba Maté plain is OK. High caffeine. Packs a punch.
- Teccino has calories and is NOT allowed
Any drink with calories is forbidden during Phase 2.
If you drink tea instead of water - you may need to increase your water calculation from 1 to 1.5 to offset the possible diuretic effect of caffeine (this is debatable, and not a hard-and-fast "rule.") So that means, if you drank one glass of tea, you will need 1 1/2 glasses of water.
You can have approved sweeteners in your tea (typically stevia). The full list is in the color-coded Food Guide.
There is a stevia help file, too. There is no limit on stevia. (http://help.simeonsprotocol.org/entries/416595-phase-2-sweeteners)
You can also add some stevia flavorings to your tea. See: http://capellaflavordrops.com. These are wonderful!
MILK:
You are allowed a total of 1 Tablespoon of 1%, 2%, or skim milk each day during Phase 2. Choose which cup you want it in and enjoy!
OTHER BEVERAGES:
Sparkling/Mineral water:
You can have tonic or carbonated water, as long as it has no other sweeteners other than stevia. Some people make their own by adding lemon juice (juice of one lemon allowed per day) into plain carbonated water. For a list of stevia flavorings that will make your head spin, visit, http://capellaflavordrops.com
